Oleh Marus: The commission was impressed by the stadium location

Today UEFA inspectors examined the Chornomorets stadium. FC Chornomorets vice-president Oleh Marus answered journalists' questions after the meeting with UEFA inspectors.

- We have started our work with the UEFA representatives last week when we presented our stadium. Mr. Bovi said that experts were impressed with it. We told them about the planned work and asked for their support in some unsolved issues. As far as I know, city authorities have to present to UEFA their official written guarantees before March 11 so the next two weeks will be decisive.

As you see, the work is going on. Now geologists are working, our designers will receive all geodesic data today. I hope that we will sign the final contract and they will be able to return to Germany next week to continue their work.

- What was the reaction of the UEFA experts on your project?

- The commission members, as well as our German partners were impressed by the stadium location. We weren’t battling for this spot in vain. There were suggestions to build the stadium at the aeration fields but we preserved this place for the city as a sports Mecca. Everybody was impressed by the possibility to see the sea from the upper level of the stadium and the park that surrounds the arena.

As for the project, our German partners will use the best of their experience to use the unique location of the stadium and its proximity to the sea. Remarks concerned ways of people evacuation and separation of supporters of different teams. We have such experience because we hosted Supercup finals between Shakhtar and Dynamo. We checked the stadium orientation and there are some difficulties as the setting sun will shine at the eyes of the spectators. But we have a solution to this problem: part of the roof will be transparent and part of it will not. It will create an interesting effect when you could see the sea through the transparent part of the roof.
