Cross border cooperation |
Ukraine and Poland have signed an intergovernmental agreement on the rules of the local cross-border cooperation and an agreement cooperation in the organization and holding of European football championship 2012.
The agreements were signed as a result of the talks of the Polish and Ukrainian delegation headed by the two premiers in Kyiv on Friday.
Besides, the parties signed the protocol of cooperation in the institutional provision of Ukraine's integration into the European Union, as well as the declaration about the creation of the Ukrainian-Polish European University.
Radio Liberty reported on Thursday that the European Commission had criticized the agreement between Ukraine and Poland on local cross-border traffic, regarding the width of the frontier zone. The European Commission said that according to the EU legislation the border zone should not exceed 30 kilometers, whereas the Ukrainian-Polish agreement fixes a 50-kilometer zone.
