Ukrzaliznytsya prepares for Euro-2012 |
Ukrzaliznytsya has defined main directions of preparation of the railway transport for Euro 2012. In particular, a priority task is to introduce high-speed passenger trains with speeds up to 200 kph. Such trains will connect Kyiv with other cities where Euro-2012 matches are to be played. At first they will be used to travel to Poltava, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk. Then high-speed communication will be established between the capital and Lviv, Odesa and Kharkiv.
Special power banking cars will be purchased for the introduction of high-speed communications. Railwaymen also need to build a special depot and service stations for trains.
Another item of preparation for Euro-2012 is the division of long-distance and local passengers in all cities that will host the championship. For this purpose suburban railway stations will be built in Lviv, Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk. In Kyiv Darnytsya railway station will be completed and a railway and automobile bridge over Dnipro will be built.
In addition Ukrzaliznytsya plans to introduce ticket ordering and sales over the Internet.
