The team that is now managed by Pavlov was created by Viktor Nosov who passed away earlier this week from heart failure. This grievous event surely affected Poltave players psychologically as they worked with Nosov not long ago and knew him very well. Of course Vorskla wanted to win today in memory of the coach and also to secure the club fro relegation.
Vorskla pushed forward since the start and this activity brought results soon. On 12 minutes hosts took the lead. Dallku crossed from the right flank to the back post where Kravchenko connected with the cross but hit the upright. Jovan Markoski was the first to the rebound and put the ball home – 1:0.
Two minutes later Kravchenko blasted in the free kick but Hidi saved the shot. Kryvbas had chances to equalize but Rozhkov and Bylykbashi didn’t use their opportunities. These were just random surges of activity as Vorskla attacked more often and their attacks were more dangerous. On 22 minutes Yesin shot over the bar from good position and five minutes later Glavina picked up Markoski’s pass and looked certain to score but hit the crossbar from 11 meters.
Melaschenko also had a chance to score in the first half after he received the pass in the penalty area but put too little power in his shot and Dolhanskiy had no problems saving it.
In the second half Vorskla pulled back a little but dangerous episodes near Hidi’s goal kept happening. On 59 minutes Markoski went one-on-one with the keeper but couldn’t outplay Hidi. The ball fell to Dallku who put it over the bar under pressure from the defenders.
On 64 minutes visitors equalized. Vasyl Sachko who went in from the bench earlier was fouled by Chyzhov and Bylykbashi confidently converted the spot kick. It wasn’t the last penalty kick in this match though. In the injury time the referee awarded a dubious penalty into the opposite goal. Curri beat his fellow Albanian Hidi and rushed to Pavlov to celebrate the third Vorskla victory in a row.
Oleh Taran, Kryvbas head coach:
- I don’t have money for fines so I won’t swear. A year ago the same referee officiated here and I was fined $3000 after the press conference. I could repeat the same words today. I don’t feel sorry for my work but I pity the players. I understand that Vorskla should stay in the higher league and they will stay.
We should have been dropped from the championship in the beginning of the season. Almost a year passed and we crawled out of this hole. Now the situation is the same. A club needs solid financial backing, stability, and prospects. We don’t have stable financing and have to produce stable results.
Mykola Pavlov, Vorskla head coach:
- I have diverse impressions after this match. It is the second time in my life when a person that was very close to the team dies. It happened in Mariupol to the footballer Stepan Molokutsko. I know how difficult it is to dispose players to the match in such days. However if we could convert the opportunities that we have in the first half, the second one wouldn’t be so disastrous. It is the fifth match that we play with the same lineup. Players were in poor physical and psychological condition. But we have to fulfill the assignment of the club management and then let other players go on the pitch. Today we expected Kulakov to fully recover and fielded him but he suffered the recurrent injury. It is a shame that we lost him again.
