The first half was goalless although the game could take another turn on 18 minutes when Balabanov was about to go one-on-one with Lutsenko but the match was stopped as a flare was thrown from the stands in front of the forward. It took several minutes to calm down the fans and even Dynamo coaches and players had to approach the stands with the Kyiv club supporters to make them stop the riot. The referee had to compensate four minutes to the duration of the first half.
After the break Syomin substituted Kravets with Milevskiy and this substitution proved successful. Four minutes into the second half Aliev sent a low cross from the left corner of the penalty area and Milevskiy was there in time to put it home – 0:1. Then on 55 minutes Ninkovic made a brilliant through pass to Shatskikh who went clear of the defense and scored a nice goal – 0:2.
On 73 minutes Ivanov took the corner and Yussuf appeared to handball but the referee didn’t award the penalty and suffered harsh criticism of the home crowd. And six minutes later Milevskiy scored his second after Correa’s cross putting the game beyond doubt.
The match was stopped once again in the last minute because of the riot in the stands. The teams went to their dressing rooms for several minutes until the order on the stadium was restored and played the remaining two minutes of the injury time later. If not for that, the result of the match could be the forfeit for both sides.
Yuriy Syomin, FC Dynamo head coach:
- The match was very important for both sides and neither had the right to make a mistake. The first half was very difficult for us because our opponents defended well and launched some counterattacks. Because of that we had very few dangerous chances. In the second half we had three successful attacks when our players attacked from the deep. We are satisfied by the result and performance.
As for the fan riots, such situations happen when there is no understanding between the police and the fans. I don’t know why such aggression took place but when law machinery is aggressive, fans are hard to contain too. I don’t want to justify our supporters, if they were indeed ours; such behavior is intolerable. But the guards also should be more loyal as such aggression in response on aggression could only provoke conflicts.
Valeriy Horodov, FC Naftovyk-Ukrnafta head coach:
- Unlike Yuriy Syomin, we are of course not satisfied with the result. The first half was not bad for us but we failed to play safely in the second one. I also want to say a few words about refereeing. I think there is a kind of refereeing for big clubs and another one for small ones. We could achieve a positive result in this match only with objective refereeing. When the official doesn’t award three penalties, it is difficult to play against Dynamo. I haven’t watch the video replay yet but competent people told me that Dynamo players handballed several times in the area. In the first half our player was about to break clear of defenders but some man went out on the pitch and the referee stopped the match. I think the referee ruined the game completely.
