The beginning of the match left grave impression as the teams lacked pace and couldn’t get their passing right. Hosts were the first to create a real threat towards the middle of the first half when Aladashvili crossed into the centre of the penalty area where Milko headed it past the goalpost.
On 36 minutes Biliy shot on the volley from the corner of the penalty area towards the far corner. Batista tried to direct his shot into the net with his heel but failed to do so and Fedetskiy couldn’t reach the ball as he had already ran past the line of shot.
On 38 minutes Aladashvily pushed Glavina in the area and the referee awarded the penalty. Curry sent the ball from the spot into the right down corner – 0:1.
In just four minutes visitors doubled their lead. Dallku found himself with the ball in the left flank and had several Kharkiv defenders rushing to meet him. He managed to cross the ball to the opposite end of the penalty area where several Vorskla players were unmarked, and Chichikov had no problems putting it into the left corner of the goal – 0:2.
After the break visitors began to play even more actively as two goals cushion allowed them to relax and be more creative. Hosts were unable to prevent it and the third goal that happened on 57 minutes was upsetting but not unexpected for the home crowd. Kravchenko made a great pass from his own half for Glavina who was about to go one-on-one with the keeper but had to stop at the corner of the penalty area. The Croatian had enough time to turn around and make a pass for Yesin who was running in through the centre. Khudzhamov got his hands to the ball but it ended in the back of the net off his gloves – 0:3.
Mykola Pavlov, Vorskla head coach:
- In a situation like this I am certainly happy that we won such a game of principle with FC Kharkiv. We had a bit of luck with the penalty that gave us advantage. We have already survived in the higher league and now we had to win all the remaining game in order to finish in the top ten and won some bonus for the place in the league.
Volodymyr Bessonov, FC Kharkiv head coach:
- I have nothing to comment. There was just one team on the pitch and I congratulate them with good performance and a victory. They dominated the game in the first and second half alike. Perhaps our players were tired after Zakarpattya match. We don’t have to lose heart, we have three more games and we have to fight against relegation.
