Olexandr Gladkiy and Olexiy Polyanskiy on the upcoming game against Czech Republic

Today Ukraine U-21 are to play a very important match against their contemporaries from the Czech Republic. This Euro 2009 qualifier will be played in Zaporizhya at the Metalurh Stadium. The game kicks off at 19:00. At the moment the Czech Republic are just 1 point behind Ukraine, the group leaders. Gladkiy and Polyanskiy told what they were expecting from the match.

Olexandr Gladkiy:

- We feel rather confident after we routed Lichtenstein. I am not even trying to conceal that i feel great because we managed to score 5 unanswered goals. we needed that victory badly and we achieved it. So, we feel great in this respect.

- Czech Republic is only 1 point behind you. Does it mean anything to you?

- You bet! Being a leader with an advantage of just 1 point is not a stable position. This is why we must win the match. By the way, our opponents have played one game less. So, i assure you that the match will be a challenge.

- Chyhrynskiy and Polyanskiy are here too. Does the presence of your club team-mates make you feel more self-confident?

- Yes, of course. I think they are a good reinforcement of the team. Earlier we used to rely on their psychological support, but now they shall be able to help us on the playing field. So, I hope we shall be able to achieve a positive result tomorrow.

Oleksiy Polyanskiy:

- Due to an injury you were away for quite a while. Were you surprised when you received an invitation to join the national team?

- Not at all. I was in the lineup in the friendly match against Metalist on Sunday. And even before the match we stroke a deal with the head coach. My come back depended solely on the state of my health.

– Does your injury still bother you?

- It seems to be fine now. I am fit now and ready to appear in the match tomorrow.

– Do you think Mykhaylichenko is going to field you tomorrow?

– We haven't talked about it yet. I am looking forward to join the team on the playing field tomorrow.

– So how do you feel before the match?

– We shall fight!
