On Friday, February 15, Ukraine U-19 team played its last match on a representative tournament Atlantic Cup that took place on Canary Islands. The footballers of Oleksandr Lysenko beat the team of Canary Islands − 4:0 and as the result they were on the second position. Only active continental champion Spain was ahead our players.

February 12

France − Canary Islands − 0:0.

Ukraine − Spain − 0:1.

Goal: 0:1 Bolado (21).

Ukraine: Kychak, Pinchuk, Biliy, Petrov (Ablitarov, 54), Mykycey, Martynyuk (Svorak, 62), Konshyn, Sagaydak (Yavorskiy, 69), Politylo, Zozulya (Konoplyanka, 60), Yarmolenko.

In the starting match of the tournament on the 12th of February Ukraine U-19 team was won by Spanish coevals − 0:1. Ukrainians had a great advantage before the break, but didn’t manage to score. Instead of it Spanish footballers put one into Ukraine’s goal on the 21st minute. It was the forward of Racing who took the opportunity of our defenders’ mistake within the measures of a penalty area and scored. After the goal Ukrainian players played even in a more active way, but their actions were not effective and the score didn’t change till the end of the match.

February 13

Canary Islands − Spain − 0:1.

Ukraine − France − 1:0.

Goal: 1:0 Martynyuk (47, penalty kick).

Ukraine: Kychak, Pinchuk, Petrov, Mykycey, Ablitarov (Biliy, 70), Sagaydak (Martynyuk, 46), Konshyn, Kablash (Yarmolenko, 62), Politylo, Svorak, Zozulya.

The second match which was held on the 15th of February brought a victory to Ukraine U-19 team. This time the opponent was French team. Ukrainians chose counterattack tactic and it worked because they were very disciplined in defensive actions and didn’t let their opponents to do anything in attack. In the very beginning of the second half «blue-yellow» team carried out a counterattack and gained a penalty. Yaroslav Martynyuk realized a penalty without any difficulties. It was the first and the last goal in this match.

February 15

Spain − France − 3:0.

Canary Islands − Ukraine − 0:4.

Goals: 0:1 Konoplyanka (23), 0:2 Konoplyanka (77), 0:3 Martynyuk (84), 0:4 Konshyn (89).

Ukraine: Odolskiy, Pinchuk, Petrov, Mykycey, Sagaydak, Yavorskiy (Konshyn, 65), Martynyuk, Biliy (Politylo, 56), Svorak (Kablash, 56), Karnoza (Zozulya, 63), Konoplyanko.

In the last match Ukrainians beat the team of Canary Islands and this win helped them to become second on the tournament after Spanish footballers. From the very beginning of the match and till the final whistle the players of Oleksandr Lysenko were very active and didn’t let their competitors do anything dangerous near their goal. The only opportunity for the players of David Sosa to score was on the 26th minute when Ukrainian goalkeeper Kostyantyn Odolskiy saved his team after a kick of Ruben Rosket.

The advantage of «blue-yellow» team realized into four goals. Evgen Konoplyanko scored one goal in each half and Yaroslav Martynyuk and Yuriy Konshyn were the ones who scored the third and the fourth goal accordingly. As a matter of fact Martynyuk was decided by the organizers to be the best player of Atlantic Cup tournament.
